Description
A beautiful image of a female ruby throat hummingbird approaching a Crepe myrtle bloom. The backlighting and position of the hummingbird just makes this piece jump out at the viewer. How could you not love this piece in your home, from a print to maybe throw pillows and more. Ruby-throated hummingbirds are solitary. Adults of this species are not social, other than during courtship (which lasts a few minutes); the female also cares for her offspring. Both males and females of any age are aggressive toward other hummingbirds. They may defend territories, such as a feeding territory, attacking and chasing other hummingbirds that enter. Crepe myrtles are chiefly known for their colorful and long-lasting flowers which occur in summer. Most species of Lagerstroemia have sinewy, fluted stems and branches with a mottled appearance that arises from having bark that sheds throughout the year.
