Don't let the fancy name confuse you... a beach sheet is just a large beach towel.

A beautiful female Hummingbird, that I captured as she was hovering just behind this gorgeous bloom. The flower is one of my favorites and is called Ranunculus and is also known as a Buttercup. I have used digital effects to give the photo the look of a painting and added textures to add to those effects. The bright, peony-like flowers of ranunculus make a delightful addition to early-spring flower borders, containers, or bouquets. These cool-weather bulbs are treated as annuals in most of the country, but in select regions with cool, mild winters (such as Seattle), these bulbs will winter over and be perennial. Ranunculus is a sun lover that grows 6 to 12 inches tall and develops round, crepe-paper-like flowers in jewel-tone colors including yellow, orange, red, salmon, and purple. Because ranunculus thrives in cool weather, it's an excellent choice for pots and planters packed with other early-bird bloomers. Ranunculus is deer resistant.
